Frequently Asked Questions
There are three ways:
There are four ways:
- Manually - enter the name and set the dates: a shelf life or an exact “best before” date. You can add a photo, a note and a shelf life after opening.
- Label scan - point the camera at the date on the packaging, or pick a photo from your library. The app recognises the date itself.
- By barcode - scan the code: the app finds the product in the shared database and fills in the name, shelf life and photo. Internet is required.
- Calculator - enter the production date and the shelf life (from 1 hour to 500 years); the app shows the expiry date and the time left.
Each product gets two notifications: an early warning and a message that it has expired. The warning time is chosen automatically from the length of the shelf life: the longer a product keeps, the earlier the reminder.
- In the app settings you can turn notifications on or off altogether.
- There you can also set “quiet hours”: a notification that falls inside them arrives at the start of the next window.
- Notifications can be switched off for a single product on its card.
- From the notification itself you can mark a product as opened or delete an expired one.
If notifications are not arriving, check iOS permissions: Settings → PROvisions → Notifications. The app schedules notifications for the 30 nearest products.
If the date is not found, try the following:
- Make sure the label is well lit and in focus.
- Aim the camera more precisely - just at the date line.
- Take a photo and choose it from your library: if Apple Intelligence is available on your device, the app will try to read the date with it.
- If nothing works, add the product manually or use the calculator.
Your personal products sync between your iPhone and iPad through iCloud. If data does not appear on another device:
- Make sure both devices are signed in with the same Apple ID.
- Check that iCloud is enabled for the app: iOS Settings → [Apple ID] → iCloud → PROvisions.
- Check your internet connection.
- Wait a few minutes - iCloud sync can sometimes be delayed.
If the issue persists, contact us and include your device models and iOS version.
- Delete a product - in the product list; right after deleting, the action can be undone. You can also move a product to the archive and restore it from there.
- Delete iCloud data - iOS Settings → [Apple ID] → iCloud → Manage Storage → PROvisions.
- Delete the app - local data on the device is removed.
Yes. Your product list, notifications, the calculator and label scanning work without a connection.
Yes. Your product list, notifications, the calculator and label scanning work without a connection. The internet is needed to look up a barcode and to send a new product. If you saved a product found by barcode, its card with ingredients opens offline too; the “Refresh data” button makes a new request.
Personal products sync through iCloud. In addition, the app settings let you make a backup: it is saved as a file you can open from Files, and the app offers an import with a preview and a choice whether to replace existing products.
You can create a shared list and invite family by link. It shows the products of all members; you can leave the list or remove a member in the family settings. Your personal products stay separate.
If a product is not found by barcode, the app offers to send it. First scan the barcode, then photograph the packaging: the front (required) and the ingredients (required, up to 3 photos). Optionally add photos of storage conditions, nutrition and dates, plus a note. No more than 7 photos in total. The app asks for confirmation before the first submission. With no connection, the submission is sent later on its own. The Developer reviews the product and adds it to the database. If someone else has already sent this product and it hasn't been processed yet, the app will tell you it's already being handled and won't offer to send it again. You can still add it to your own list manually.
If a found product has wrong data (the ingredients or packaging changed, or a different product is behind this barcode), tap "Report a mistake" on its card. Photograph the front of the package (required), the ingredients and other sides if needed, and briefly describe what is wrong (required). The Developer will check and fix the card. If there is already an unreviewed report for this product, the app will tell you. What you sent is deleted automatically after 30 days.
Submitted photos and notes are deleted automatically after 30 days. To have them deleted sooner, write to e-mail: give the product barcode and the approximate time you sent it.
